They wouldn’t haggle so much on the price.
Very few people prolly want a 2003 MR2 spyder these days...

How much?
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:18 |

It’s priced at $13,900
Has 25k miles
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:20 |

Would ya take tree fiddy?
But really... I would probably pay 7500, even with the low miles.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:20 |

I want one but not for that price...
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:21 |

Yep. Old impractical Toyota.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:22 |

I have a woman who is at 12,900 and just got shot down.

Fun old impractical Toyota... But the old and impractical don’t phase me. I have a LS for practical reasons and it has 300k on it so old doesn’t bother me.

Some people don’t know what’s good for them, everyone can use a lightweight roadster to brighten up their day!
Specialist fora are probably the best way to get rid of it though. There’s also a seemingly large price gap between the NB and the ZZW30 in the US, but a shared audience, so I’d guess most buyers would pick the Miata. Unless they’re tall.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:24 |

That’s crazy... It’s low mileage but good lord it’s not worth 14 grand.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:25 |

They realize this was a $22k car 15 years ago, right? They sat on lots when they were new.
I loved them, but they sat on lots for over 100 days on average in 2003.

I just got the okay to stick her at 12,900 BUT the small tear in the roof will not be fixed
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:26 |
|
Dang. Boss is a stickler for early 2000's Toyotas apparently. Congrats on the sale though!
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:26 |

This one has been at my lot for...190ish days
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:27 |
|
Well assuming she is okay with the hole not being fixed...
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:28 |

Convertible season is ending too, I would’ve taken that $12,900.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:29 |

There’s one on my local CL right now for literally 10 grand less than that. 162k miles and yellow, but still.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:31 |

Waaaaiiit.... So I can have a 2003 MR2 Spyder... or a 2011 BMW 3 Series... for the same price...
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:32 |

Yep.

What A Time To Be Alive.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:35 |

You guys would be certifiable not to take that offer. Low miles or not, that’s not a $13k car. I’d be stunned if it even cracked $10k on BaT.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:36 |
|
I want one, but junkier so I don’t feel bad when it gets a 2ZZ swap and is turned into a track beater.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:36 |
|
Oh sorry Drake
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:37 |

Drake... Jake.. It all sounds the same with an accent. None of my friends no who I really am yet.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:37 |

If you have to be in the car at 12,900, your dealership paid too much for it.
If I was her, I would walk out.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:37 |
|
Thats what I said..she was originally at 12,500 but I bumped her to 12,900 PLUS a 3rd party warranty she may want
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:42 |
|
I wouldnt personally buy it at this price either, but hey not my money
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:44 |
|
We had a black manual with 80k miles that took over 3 months to sell at $7500!
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:44 |
|
You don’t buy extended warranties on Toyotas! Have we taught her nothing ????
LOL.

Black Hole Patch
, I carry these with me for when dealers need a hole in a used car patched. They are easy, cheap and I haven’t had any come back. Get the sale, she’ll accept this as a fix.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:45 |
|
She is going to add a good 2k onto her price for it
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:46 |
|
o.o 190 days for this poor toyota
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:53 |
|
There was a place near me asking $9 maybe? for one with 120k miles O_.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:54 |
|
$9.00?
Or $9,000?
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:57 |
|
It probably depends on what the car is valued on your dealers flooring line.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 11:59 |
|
Pre- or post-03? Because that changes the potential for catastrophic failure greatly. If the US market is similar to Europe, pre-03s should be $4-6k, post-03s $7-10k, depending on mileage and condition of course.
It is a very small market, so you’ve got people asking up to 15k over here, or almost double what I paid. ¯\_()_/¯
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:01 |
|
At anything under 13k and my job loses money, but they want this thing gone
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:01 |
|
I don’t blame them.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:03 |
|
Don’t worry, they’re ridiculously cheap to buy in the UK, so you’ll have to rely on the insurance companies to make you pay through the nose.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:04 |
|
Y’all ever get any Swedish treats in?
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:04 |
|
Yeah insurance is insane on them. Tax isnt much better.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:08 |
|
I have a 2016 S60; there was a S40 or some older small sedan too
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:19 |
|
What’s your tax based on? I got lucky, as both insurance and tax largely depend on displacement, and 1.8l isn’t too outrageous.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:23 |
|
Cars pre 01 have two brackets. £235 for 1.55 litre or more, £145 for less. Then newer cars are based on CO2 so NA petrols are expensive to tax.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:24 |
|
Thats actally a good deal on that S60! Just wish it had some more toys.
But being a 2016,its the classic T5 engine its the good old 5 cylinder!
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:25 |
|
Have had zero interest on that Volvo
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:29 |
|
Pre. That explains why all the post-03s are in the 6-10k range.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:32 |
|
Ouch. Another reason to complain about the ridiculous EU CO2 emission tests.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:41 |
|
Yup. There’s a fault in the pre-refresh pre-catalytic converters that can cause ceramic material to be sucked into the engine. It’s somewhat easily prevented (gut or remove them), but not repairable, so most informed buyers look for the final production years.
![]() 09/22/2016 at 12:46 |

I had a friend with one with a gutted cat, but he never explained why he did it. Now I know. Thanks.
